About the Event

As environmental challenges escalate, the media and entertainment technology industry must intensify its sustainability efforts. However, despite the growing urgency, engagement from regulators and policymakers has waned, leaving sustainability leaders within the industry feeling frustrated and abandoned. Political distractions are partly to blame, but the complexity of measuring and ensuring objectivity in emerging ESG accounting has also contributed. Early mistakes have led to a more cautionary approach, resulting in what we term the 'Green Hush.'

Our next event in the Sustainability Experts Series, produced by Broadcast Projects and sponsored by Greening of Streaming, tackles this critical issue head-on. Join us for a thought-provoking discussion on Green Hushing trends at a political policy level.

This session will feature John Pabon, author of "The Great Greenwashing," alongside industry leaders and sustainability experts. Despite the complications faced by companies trying to establish a compliance framework with regulators, industry actors have been making their own progress. We will delve into the emergence of ESG and Sustainability in Requests for Proposals (RFPs) within the industry. Key topics will include understanding how compliance drives the content and structure of RFPs, and exploring whether this is driven by existing regulations or the anticipation of future requirements.

This event will shine a spotlight on the critical need for collaborative action and regulatory engagement. We aim to challenge the status quo, urging both policymakers and industry leaders to recommit to sustainable practices.

Key topics include:

  • Regulatory Engagement: Why have regulators and policymakers stepped back, and what can be done to bring them back to the table?
  • Industry Responsibility: The importance of industry-wide support and collaborative efforts to drive sustainability.
  • Compliance in RFPs: Featuring insights from technology players on the intersection of compliance, sustainability, and financial practices, and discussing strategies to incorporate sustainable practices in RFPs even with limited financial support.
  • Global vs. Local Challenges: Navigating the complexities of implementing sustainability initiatives across diverse markets.

This is not just another sustainability discussion; this is a call to action. Help us push the conversation forward and ensure that sustainability in the media industry remains a top priority.
