The IBC Conference 2025 is behind us and while all the buzz was about AI, the sustainability agenda had its own wins.

The Greening of Streaming Hour: Four Expert Sessions

Our flagship event drew serious interest, bringing together four expert sessions on energy-efficient streaming. We're grateful to our speakers who shared their expertise and insights:

  • Vincent Grivet presented the first-ever satellite TV environmental impact study, comparing satellite delivery against IP and terrestrial options. → view presentation slides

  • Jesús Martínez de Juan shared findings from TNO's EXIGENCE program on energy measurement complexity across streaming devices, servers, and 5G networks. → view presentation slides

  • Benjamin Schwarz provided updates on our year's progress, including results from recent measurement campaigns and our Remote Energy Measurement (REM) platform. → view presentation slides

  • Barbara Lange introduced the Media Climate Accord, outlining the industry's new sustainability commitments.

The Media Climate Accord Launch

The Media Climate Accord, launched by Media Tech Sustainability Series with support from Akamai Technologiesand Greening of Streaming, gained immediate broad support from major industry players. It commits the global live events sector to significantly cut its environmental impact with measurable targets.

The conversations throughout those four days reinforced genuine industry dedication to tackle sustainability challenges. There's work ahead, but real momentum is building.

Big thanks to all who attended and engaged with us throughout the conference.
