On Sept 7th 2022, Ramesh Sitaraman gave the keynote presentation at the Sustainability in Streaming and Digital Media Delivery: Greening of Streaming 2nd Annual Summit.
Chief Scientist at (and one of the founders of) Akamai, and a true visionary in the Content Delivery Network sector, Ramesh lead the theme for the summit talking about the Carbon First initiative he has been a key proponent of.
"If we want video streaming to become sustainable we have to be building these things differently."
In his presentation Ramesh reminded us that while energy efficiency is a key step towards sustainability, we must constantly return to carbon-efficiency as the most important design constraint.
